INDIA TRIP!
Ian writes-- In
March 2007 I had the chance to visit India, where I am involved with two
groups. The larger one is Compassion, and I had
the chance to meet with the Indian director, and
also to meet Kousalia, the little girl that
Carol and I sponsor. 58,000 children are now
helped through Compassion’s work in India.
The other operation, India Ministries
Fellowship, is much smaller. Set up and run by
just two couples, who work incredibly hard and
faithfully, over three hundred people receive
life changing help every day in areas that are
so, so, poor. Here is a special feature on
INDIA
MINISTRIES FELLOWSHIP

First stop was to the
town of Kolar Goldfields, near Bangalore. In a
very poor area, IMF’s work here gives young
girls a chance to receive educational help, and
training for future employment. Over a 100 young
women benefit from this work every day.

Next stop was the boys’ home in Thiritani, near
Chennai. For 23 years now, successive intakes of
boys from amongst
the poorest of the poor have been given a home,
and a chance to make something of their lives
that they would otherwise have
been deprived of. The atmosphere in the home is
fantastic—this is not a grim institution, this
is a loving family!
It’s just a bit bigger than normal—50 boys!
Lastly, we travelled into an extremely poor area
of Chennai [ used to called Madras!] to an area
called Madhavaram, The IMF work here is also a
non-residential educational assistance project.
The local children do get the chance to go to
school, but they come home often to incredibly
overcrowded slum dwellings, with no electricity
[yes, in 2007!], and an open gutter outside the
door for sanitation. Local parents and teachers
give up time to spend whole evenings in the IMF
building working with the young children who
come. To see it is an amazing experience—it’s a
life changer!

SPECIAL APPPEAL.!
IMF is a small operation, and is funded mainly
by a group of people all donating £10 a month.
Our appeal is to try to raise the support base just a bit—we need 30
more donors giving £10 each, to help us balance
monthly expenditure. Go on, the giving will do
you good, and could change a life! Just send a
quick e-mail back to me,
ian@littlemistymusic.com and I’ll send out a
form to you!
