Hi everyone, thanks for logging on.

The recording in Alford on May 26th went well, and in the next couple of weeks, I’m putting up on the home page some simple videos of the songs, along with words and chord charts that you’ll be able to print off. My hope is that long before the actual album comes out, one or two of the songs may start to be used in congregations. See what you think!

May and June are quiet months for outside engagements, but busy ones for school stuff!

Hi Everyone…

Main news this month is that on Friday I’m inviting anyone who can manage to join me in the village of Alford, outside Aberdeen, for a very special recording evening. I’ve been putting together a set of new worship songs , and it’s just not a proper worship album if it doesn’t have a real congregation on it!
So, if you live in the North East, can sing a bit, and love to worship, please try to come along to the Church of Scotland in the middle of Alford, for 7 pm on the 26th!

Hi everyone!

The Sound and Vision tour is nearing the end now, and I just wanted to say thanks to everyone who has supported it. So far 60 children have also been sponsored for Compassion. A few more dates to go. Edinburgh this weekend, and then a re-scheduled Guernsey visit in a couple of weeks’ time.

The songs Beach City Prayer, Everything I have, and Lord of What is Good have been really well received on the tour, and I hope they may find their way into regular use with congregations.

I’m already planning dates for next February!

Hi Everyone!

Just a quick letter to wish you all a merry Christmas season, and to say what’s been happening here.

Concerts

Although I’m not doing quite as many these days, I have still had some great nights over the summer and autumn. I was guest singer at the Glasgow and Edinburgh Praise Gathering events, which I loved. In October a huge highlight was singing in a church in California with both my boys Taylor and Harrison playing drums and guitar along with me!

In November I had a great week-end of events in London- it’s such a joy to have built up great friendships over the years with people who have put on concerts for me, and in London I get to stay with and see fantastic friends !

Schools Work

I still am very much involved in musical and spiritual input in 3 schools here in Perth. Next week, in the Kinnoull Primary end of term service, I have a record breaking 26 guitar-playing girls , and 17 boys all playing together, plus a choir and several soloists and quartets! In Perth High School next Thursday I’m involved in putting together 5 40 minute Christmas assemblies in a row– to 300 kids at a time — quite a challenge, but it really works , combining musical performances and a powerful visiting speaker—this year it’s Gordon Thompson from Drumchapel Baptist Church.

2012

On January 6th, I’m heading back to California for three week-ends of church engagements, then through February, March and April, I’m combining schools and church stuff here at home with a series of concerts round the UK and Ireland. A full list of these is at the end of this letter. I had hoped to have had a new recording out in time for the tour, but it just hasn’t come together in time. I will try out some of the new songs on the dates, however, and hopefully record again sometime in 2012.

Family

Carol is still working in the church nursery three mornings a week, and continuing to handle the admin for sending out CDs etc, which is much quieter than it was , but still important! All our material is now downloadable from the littlemistymusic website, if you weren’t aware—-Taylor has left school, and is at college doing sound engineering. Harrison is in the big exam year at school [ 5th year], and doing well academically. Both of them are very serious about giving full-time music a go, at least for the next few years. Along with singer Kitty Hall, they form a band called Whigs and Rakes [ try googling them ] , which is beginning to make waves on the Scottish music scene. They have just recorded and released a full blown album — we just have to wait and see what happens now!!

So, have a great holiday when it comes, and thanks again for your friendship over the years!

Ian White.

Hi folks!

Just a quick update on things at the moment. I’ve been back on the road quite as many of you will know , and I have to say, I’ve loved it! I started off in Southern California in January, playing in churches in San Juan Capistrano, St Clemente, Redlands, Claremont and Lake Arrowhead. I seemed to be very well received everywhere, and have already booked to be back there next January. It’s not a bad place to be at that time of year—

I came home on Feb 2nd, and went straight into a series of UK concert dates, organised by an agency called Resound Media, in conjunction with Compassion. The furthest North was Drumnadrochit and the furthest South was Guernsey—I loved every minute of it, and over 18 concerts we manage to gain 50 new sponsors for needy children in the poorest parts of the world. Thank you to everyone reading this who had a part to play in the tour.

UK tour 2012

Resound Media are keen to put together another tour for me, starting in February and running into April. It’s my plan to record a new CD in the autumn this year, so the tour will serve well to introduce the new songs alongside the old favourites! Please consider hosting a concert for me! It’s very easy to organize, and you get good organizational and promotional help from Resound. Drop a line if you can to kate@resoundmedia.co.uk. Even if you feel you don’t have the confidence to take the burden on yourself for organizing an event, perhaps Kate could link you with someone else in your area—where there’s a will, there’s a way!

Schools Update

Since the tour finished I’ve been back regularly in the schools– relationships there are growing really well, and the lunchtime music sessions in the high schools are particularly well received. I love the sense of involvement with the school, and get asked to do extra things, like helping out with the sound at the end of term school show at Perth High. I love it!

Family

Carol is doing great—excited about escaping from us for a few days this Thursday to fly with a friend to Milan for four days holiday! Taylor just about to finish school, and Harrison has finished all his Standard Grade exams. Their band Whigs and Rakes is creating quite a buzz around the Perth and Dundee area—the plan is to defer University for a couple of years and have a go at making the band work. They have a first album coming out in November. Check them out on Google/facebook/myspace etc if you’re interested!

June 2011 Diary

June is going to be a busy month! Engagements start at 6am on the morning of the 1st, Where I’m singing at the National Prayer breakfast again, then that evening it’s the Faith and Light monthly meeting—just a fantastic time with folks with learning difficulties. If you come across a Faith and Light group in your area, go along and support it—you’ll be blessed! Another highlight of the month is being asked to be guest singer in the big Praise Gathering concerts in the Glasgow Concert Hall and Edinburgh Usher Hall. A real privilege and I can’t wait!

Thanks for reading! Bye! Ian
