Hi everyone!
In July this
year
Carol & I celebrated our 25th wedding
anniversary, and we both feel very
thankful to have lasted so long and
still be speaking to each other! 20
years of that time have been in full
time music ministry, and although I know
I'm the one doing the songwriting and
singing, I feel it has been a genuine
partnership - Carol has really kept
the business side of Little Misty Music
afloat all these years, as well as being
a great homemaker and mum, and I'm
hugely appreciative of her.
Recent News
After a quiet summer I was back out on
the road with a two week trip to the
USA. . First week was spent in
Nashville, working on some new material,
then it was up to Long Island, New York,
for what I thought was going to be
series of three concerts.
My friends Doug and Megan Kinney pastor
a small Calvary Chapel Church in the
area, and they had done a great
job working out for me to sing not only
in their church, but to minister in a
couple of quite large churches in New
Jersey. Three days before arriving I
got an e-mail saying the two new places
had cancelled at the last minute. I was
very puzzled, and heartbroken when I
discovered the reason. One of their
pastors had read through the liner notes
on the cover of my Pre-revival Days CD,
and read a reference I made to a lady
pastor. Because their church does not
approve of lady pastors they cancelled
me. Doug and Megan felt very bad about
it, and have resolved to try really hard
this year to open me to some other
churches. It's really going to make me
think in future as to what I write on my
CD sleeves! One never knows when one
is being controversial! Anyway, I'm
home, and as we’ve seen so often over
these 20 years, God’s provision for us
often has a swings and roundabouts
aspect to it--- last week-end in London,
the church in Richmond, without knowing
anything about the cancellations the
previous week, felt they wanted to give
me an extra gift over and above my fee.
It amounted to about the same as I would
probably have received from the churches
that cancelled me.
Up-and coming engagements
As you'll see by the diary page, this
next month has concerts around the UK,
from Mull down to London, then on
October 18th, I'm flying to South Korea.
This is a first for me, and I'm looking
forward to ministering in a very
different culture. In all of my concerts
at the moment I'm really enjoying
re-visiting lots of the Psalms pieces
from the early albums-- there are so
many that I just didn't sing for years,
and I plan to feature these strongly on
the Korean trip. They have me singing
nearly every night for a week. After
that it's a fairly busy six weeks of UK
stuff again, culminating in a big
Pre-Christmas concert in Belfast, with
my partner-in-crime Chris Eaton. The
concert is on December 2nd, and if you
live in Ireland, or even fancy a
week-end break in Belfast, it's
definitely one to catch!
High Voltage- shock news-- bass player leaves, new member
joining!
As you probably know , Taylor and
Harrison, plus their friend Connor
Cousland have been performing with me at
several concerts this last two years as
High Voltage. Well, as will happen with
bands, we're having our first personnel
change! Connor has decided to leave,
and we wish him well. He is carrying on
with his bass lessons, and if he was
being interviewed for a music magazine
he would probably put his reason for
leaving down as
'musical differences'!! We're very
good friends with his family and will
continue to bump into him socially no
doubt! Our new member is called David
Martin-- look out for the first concert
with him, as yet not fixed!
Church News
The children's work at Kinnoull
continues to grow. As with every
worshiping community we would love to
see more families commit to be there
most weeks -this would be Carol
talking- I can't speak as I'm away more
that half the time! But having said
that, the average number of children is
growing, and our monthly Youth Church'
services have been really well
received. We now also hold a monthly
youth group here in Hollybush for
Primary 7s and above, which the kids
appear to love.
India-- India Ministries Fellowship and Compassion
We continue to be involved in both of
the above . Please have a look at the
IMF page on our website if you can, for
more information on this project. I am
now working 'officially' as a Compassion
associate artist, and speak of their
work at all of my concerts. In January
I am making another visit to South
India, to visit both IMF and Compassion
projects. Please consider holding a
concert in your area if this kind of
work is something that interests you--
it's pretty easy to organise! Just drop
me a line.
Recording projects-- or the lack of them!
I'm afraid I'm still holding back on
putting a new project together! It
will most likely be a new children's
album. I have built up quite a few
new songs with the work in Kinnoull, and
it will be fun to try to involve
children from the church in the project.
Watch this space!
Thanks again for reading,
Best wishes, from Ian White.
