Well, the new CD is Out! Pre-release response has been really
good, but the real test starts now, with you! In the current
world crisis, there may be a few raised eyebrows about the
title track- 'We're going to Win this thing', so I though
it was important to say a little about how the song was written.
I wrote the song in June in Northern Ireland. I had attended
a prayer breakfast early one morning, and been hugely challenged
by the speaker. I felt God urging me to step behond my own
selfish limits--- like he was
speaking to my point of resistance.
For some reason I found myself looking across at the fire
door, and reading the usual words'' push to open '', and felt
God was saying ''for all of you, the opportunity to serve
is there, you just have to believe in me and push through
the door.
That was on the Wednesday, and on the following Monday morning,
after 5 concert days in a row, I woke feeling physically shattered
and spiritually low. I remember asking myself, ''what would
the devil least expect me to do right now ?'' I started singing
God's praise, the lines I had remembered from the prayer breakfast
came back to me, and the song was finished in 30 minutes.
As I've been singing this song at different places over the
summer, [ mostly in the UK but also in Russia! ], I've just
been so excited at the good reaction. I don't think I've ever
had a song that 'takes' so quickly. I returned to Northern
Ireland in September, and introduced the song to CFC , Robin
Mark's home church, and again the response was tremendous.
You'll see from the diary page that I've just come back
from a Worship conference in St John, New Brunswick, in Eastern
Canada. It was a real privilege to be there, and I led worship
several times over the three days, sometimes with a backing
band, and sometimes on my own. As I suspected, 'We're going
to win this thing' was a big hit! Already since being home
it's been good to correspond with some folks who were attending
the conference.
Well, the next two months are going to be very busy as you
can see, with a fairly intense concert programme up to December
19th. Do try to make it to one of the evenings if you can,
and please come and say hi if you heard of the event through
this page.
Bit by bit, the website is coming together. Several people
I've spoken to are still very wary of buying anything over
the internet, but it really is very easy, and a clever system
means that it's actually very secure to use your credit card.
Go on, give it a try!
The accessing of the sheet music has been a bit problematic,
but it's something we are working on, so please bear with
us.
A new page on the site is the Photo Gallery, and over this
next set of concerts, I'm going to take some shots during
the evenings, and put them up in the gallery. I'll also be
open to folks sending me their own photos taken at the evenings!
It could be quite fun spotting yourself up on the site!
