Hi folks, and thanks for logging on!
December has started off with Chris
Eaton and myself doing a concert in
Belfast N.Ireland on Friday 2nd. [last
night, as I write this.] Numbers
were down on previous years, but we
still did a good concert I think,
greatly helped by the Mossley Primary
school choir , and a guest appearance
by Garry Brotherston. I've spoken of
Garry a bit over the years, but if the
name is new to you, let me tell you
about him. I first met him when I was
invited to visit him in Perth prison 10
years ago, by a chaplain . He had
been sentenced to life, for a gangland
murder, but during his first year
inside, had heard the gospel, through a
visiting speaker to the prison
chaplaincy , and committed his life to
Christ. You do hear of these things
within prisons, and they don't always
last, but over the last ten years
Garry has become one of our closest
friends, and as he has served out his
sentence, we have seen him grow as a
Christian, and as a great singer and
songwriter. His 'tariff' --the length
of time a judge detemines a prisoner
has to serve before any parole-- was set
at 11 and a half years, and this
May he was released on probation. We,
and several other friends, have
helped him set up home in a small flat
in Perth, and he is already beginning
to receive invitations to sing and give
his testimony. He went down
wonderfully well in Belfast last night.
Please write to me if you would be
interested in having Garry visit your
church, and I'll put you in touch.
Check out the diary page for details of
concerts over the next couple of
months. I was to have made a visit to
India on Jan 5th, for a week, but
this, like the Korean trip in October,
has been postponed! We just seemed
to have had a run of plans just not
working out as we'd hoped. We've also
lost the Little Misty Music van. The
van, a Merc.Vito, had been gifted to us
two years ago to replace the Transit ,
but two weeks ago the engine let go.
I suppose sometimes these things just
happen.
On a happier note, tomorrow [
Sunday] , I have a rehearsal with our
ever expanding Sunday school band--we're
now up to three violins, a cello, a
keyboard, two mini-electric guitars
[played by two sisters, both under 10! ]
, drums, bass, and choir! I've written
a couple of new songs for them, and
we're performing them in Kinnoull church
on the 18th.
God Bless you all!
Ian and
Carol White.
